Madeleine Cannon is the founder of The 95 Club, a business dedicated to supplying premium grapes, offering expert consultancy, and providing technical insights for the UK wine industry. With a career rooted in both the science and the practice of viticulture, she brings a deep understanding of quality-driven grape production and vineyard management.
Background
Raised on a family fruit farm, Madeleine developed a strong appreciation for the fundamentals of successful fruit growing. After studying Crop Science at the University of Nottingham in the UK, she carried out research at CSIRO in Australia before returning to East Malling Research, where she specialised in integrated pest management in commercial horticulture. In 2017, she qualified as an agronomist, further strengthening her expertise in quality fruit growing.
Her career flourished at Nyetimber, where she became a viticulturist overseeing vineyards across Kent, Sussex, and Hampshire. She led agronomy and research teams with a focus on maintaining premium viticultural standards as the company scaled. She also had the unique opportunity to work in the UK’s oldest block of Chardonnay, planted in 1988.
Now a Viticulture Lecturer at Plumpton College, Madeleine shares her knowledge with the next generation of wine professionals, exploring the nuances of English terroirs and old vine production. Through The 95 Club, she provides premium consultancy, high-quality grape growing and sourcing, and the latest technical insights to support winemakers, growers, and industry professionals in achieving excellence.
